What it means to be a Bohemian Dandy...

Most of the lads who are behind this new sort of movement came from the so called Chap Movement.
To know more about the Chapism i beg to visit the following site:

The Chap Magazine

The idea behind Bohemian Dandyism is first of all to get well dressed, and that in a way that is less propper than the mostly upperclass orientated chap look. Bohemian Dandyism copying the original gypsie style of the 1920' - 1950', such as shown in the movie "chocolat" with Johnny Depp.

Less british but more french style orientated. Paisley and floral styled shirts, scarves and ties. Fedora hats, tweed "sandwich" caps, trilbies, "basque" berets. Long Coats and Cord in all forms...Mostly vests over the shirts (see picture). For the laydies mostly the well known early boho chic style... robes with floral signs... The pipe smoking is also importend for most of the bohemina dandies.

In deco and homeware bohemian dandies are crazy about the shabby chic french "provence" style. The music they choose are before all the sinti/manouche gypsie swing like Django Reinhard. But also all kind of Jazz from the early 20' and 30' and in modern times also weird folk and jazz music such as Madeleine Peyroux.

A central figure in the movement of the bohemian dandyism is Charles Baudelaire. Artist and member of the bohème de paris and also a dandy who combined both in a perfect manner. We see in him and in the idea of being a bohemian dandy the principals of anarcho-dandyism. The "Flowers of Evil" or in original French "Les fleurs du mal" is a sort of poetic "bible" for the bohemian dandies of our time...
